Page TECHNOLOGY Next Issue: Voting
|
| There are
many different ways why technology must be looked at when studying the
politics of a generation. First, technology has created new sources of
information that educate youth (see
media). Second, technology has changed the way politicians campaign
and try to get out the vote (see
voting). Third, technology has empowered grass roots organizers and
this positively affects young organizers. Fourth, and finally, there are a
handful of legislative issues dealing directly with technology -- not the
least of which is the Napster debate. |
| Millennials
use Napster more than any other generation, however that does not mean
they have uniform opinions on whether or not Napster is legal. In fact,
many think it is stealing that needs to be addressed, few Millennials
however feel the Courts or the Congress are capable of controlling the
situation. |
|
| However, Technology doesn't
just help you burn CDs. It also creates an incredibly powerful
organization tool. Sites like this one (see
links) created by other Millennials advocate, educate and organize
others about dozens of political issues. |

Please tell
us your thoughts about the generation's (& your personal) attitude
towards technology and
politics. If you have seen newspaper articles, or read
interesting stats, then forward them our way and we will be sure to
include them in the book. If you
are a part of the Millennial Generation, tell us examples of political
organizing you have seen on the Net - or your take on the Napster
debate. If you are not a part of
the Millennial Generation, how do you think technology has changed
politics? |
