Issues Page     ENVIRONMENT    Next Issue: Globalism

While the environment has always been a popular issue among youth, it has taken on a new urgency since the current President is less concerned about protecting our country's natural resources. Indeed, Ralph Nader's presidential campaign gained a lot of early support from environmentalist who felt even Al Gore wasn't doing enough to keep our air and water clean.
Soon Congress will be forced to debate the environmental policies of President Bush and we'll see how engaged youth become to represent their point of view. Is their a faith in the generation that technology fix the problems that pollution creates, or is there a fear that the government is hurting the cause more than they are helping it.
