The legalization of drugs is one of the few political issues for youth that gets coverage in the news. In referendums in different states a vocal segment of youth strongly advocate for the liberalization of drug policies in America. In Los Angeles during the Democratic Convention, an alternative convention was held that declared we lost the drug war and called for changes in the government
It remains unclear what the majority of the generation thinks about this issue, but it is obviously up for debate. While fewer underage kids are drinking and regularly abusing drugs than previous decades, marijuana and ecstasy (among other drugs) are common and socially acceptable.
